Tom Ross

Biography

Tom Ross serves as Chairman of Bausch & Lomb Co. and is on the boards of Bausch Health Companies, the National Center for State Courts, and the Volcker Alliance. He served as the President of UNC System from 2011 to 2016. He was the president of Davidson College from 2007-2011. After law school, Tom became chief of staff to Congressman Robert Britt, a state superior court judge for 17 years, director of the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts, and executive director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in Winston-Salem. Tom is the recipient of the William Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence, the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, Governing Magazine’s National Public Official of the Year award, and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. He is a former chairman of the UNC Greensboro Board of Trustees. Tom has a BA from Davidson College and a JD from UNC School of Law.
