Steve Lewis

Biography

Steve Lewis is Chair of Troutman Pepper and has been a partner in the firm’s corporate law practice group since 1999. Clients across a diverse set of industries turn to Steve to navigate day-to-day business issues and to evaluate and execute strategic transactions such as mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He serves as outside general counsel to several closely held companies and is particularly experienced in advising family-owned businesses. Steve draws from a strong foundational background in finance, accounting and operations in enabling his clients to make better-informed decisions. He served as firmwide chair of the corporate practice prior to becoming the managing partner of predecessor firm Troutman Sanders in 2011.

Steve currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Board of Directors of the UNC School of Law Alumni Association. He was named one of 2020’s “Most Admired CEOs” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Steve received his J.D. from the UNC School of Law, with high honors, Order of the Coif, and B.S. degree, with honors and distinction, Phi Beta Kappa, from UNC.
