Biography

Malcolm Griggs is a member of the Board of Directors of USAA. He has served in a variety of senior risk and credit roles with financial institutions based in Charlotte, Cincinnati, and NYC. He retired from Citizens Financial Group in 2024 as Chief Risk Officer responsible for credit, market, operational, liquidity, compliance, and cybersecurity risk. He was also dual-hatted for 14 months as both Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel/Chief Legal Officer of the company while the firm searched for a replacement for the previous General Counsel. Griggs has also served as chairman of the board of the Risk Management Association (RMA) and as President of the Board of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra.

He obtained his undergraduate degree from UNC and his JD from UNC School of Law. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar.
