Biography

Stephen Leary serves as Senior Assistant General Counsel for SoFi Technologies, Inc. (“SoFi”), a fintech company and nationally chartered consumer bank.  In this role, he acts as lead product and regulatory counsel, for SoFi’s personal loan division.  Leary assists the company’s senior management on legal strategy for regulatory, contracts, marketing, and operations matters.  He also negotiates partnership, commercial, and SaaS licensing agreements.  Leary also manages the consumer litigation and arbitration portfolio across all of the company’s products. Prior to joining SoFi, Leary served as regulatory and compliance lead for WebBank’s fintech partnerships.  He also managed Optum Bank’s strategic partnership regulatory compliance oversight program; worked as a legislative and regulatory advisor for TSYS; and counseled businesses regarding corporate governance, FTC/UDAP compliance, Chapter 11 restructuring, and complex business litigation at Marshall Soccarras Grant, P.L.

Leary Received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Florida.
